The Green Campus Project Launch

On Wednesday, 5th April 2023, Recycledge in conjunction with the SWEEP Foundation launched the Green Campus Project, proudly sponsored by The Coca-Cola Foundation. ♻️✅

The Green Campus Project is an initiative that seeks to reduce plastic waste on the campus by providing designated plastic collection bins and creating awareness campaigns on the proper disposal of plastic waste.

The University of Ibadan played host to this landmark event that brought together diverse stakeholders such as Amaka Onyemelukwe, Director, Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability, The Coca-Cola Company, Amb. Obuesi Phillips, Chief Executive, SWEEP Foundation, The Vice-Chancellor, ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the Students Union President, and other honoured representatives from our partners and the university’s management.

The highlight of the event was the official launch of the Green Campus Project. During the launch, the university’s management team was presented with plastic collection receptacles that will be placed strategically around the campus to aid the collection of plastic waste. The project is expected to go a long way in creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable campus environment.

The Green Campus Project was widely applauded by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor as a significant step towards reducing plastic waste and promoting environmental sustainability. He said, “It is a timely initiative, given the global concerns around the impact of plastic waste on the environment and the need for collective action to address the problem.”
